Bill SmitzVeterans Terrace General Manager, Bill Smitz is someone who thinks nothing of jumping in with both feet. With 20 years of experience behind him, Bill came to the Veterans Terrace in November 2008 armed with an arsenal of skills and – just as important – a robust sense of humor. Although he’s serious about his job -- making the Vets Terrace the number one destination in Southeast Wisconsin.

Reservations for the Terrace’s three banquet rooms, as well as the smaller gathering areas, are coming in at a brisk pace. Bill readily ushers brides-to-be and their families through the dust and noise of construction, pointing out each feature of the new upscale Veterans Terrace facility, from brides’ rooms to the expansive lobby. “Once they’ve seen it, they love it,” Bill comments as he guides yet another group of interested citizens through the “Vets Building”. From within, one can see the vast space that will become Liberty Hall, the largest of the rooms with seating for up to 425 guests. And, with a little nudge from Bill’s vivid descriptions, it is easy to visualize a bride and groom taking a spin around the dance floor.

A native of the Burlington Area, Bill Smitz graduated from Wilmot High School. He’s worked at several resorts and banquet facilities in Southeast Wisconsin; the Abbey Resort and Fontana Spa, Grand Geneva Resort and Spa and most recently the Racine Marriott. But, it’s easy to see that his heart belongs to Burlington!
